CNY celebration rocks the beginning of 2013

It has been quite awhile since the last time that I blogged. Well, it has been a really full and hectic months with learning all the new workloads and new work style under a management of new lady boss. Girl power! Yeay!

Previously we had been hosting the CNY events at the hotels but this year our CEO decided to do something so different.  Last week we hosted a Chinese New Year celebration for the very first time at a cinema, which was at GSC Premiere Cinema, Signature, The Gardens Mall.  The price was very reasonable but of course you can't expect you will get the same quality of services that hotels could offer.

I was so nervous yet I was very excited at the same time.  The event started with an informal lunch and network session then followed by a cantonese movie screening - Journey to the West. I did not expect that to get GSC to provide a set of pop corn and coke for all guests was such a good idea.  I personally received glowing feedback from a few guests about how they had fun with a new way of us celebrating the festive event especially the part when they got pop corn and coke for free! A-Ha!

This is our door gift specially made for our guests.  It is a mug filled with either rose or jasmine tea.  Bought this mug at IKEA.  IKEA has never failed to impress me with their cute little stuff! At 1st I thought of putting little mandarin oranges in the mug but when the event was getting closer - the idea to put a tea sachet popped into my head. After seeking opinions from my fellow colleagues of how to decorate it, tadaaa... here's the result...  A mug filled with a pouch of tea leaves. The idea was contributed collectively by my colleagues and myself. Teamwork really can do wonders!

Here are some of my colleagues entertaining their respective guests.  The idea was having an informal lunch and networking session.  Everyone was free to mingle around.  After lunch and networking, the guests were invited to watch "Journey to the west", by Stephen Chow.

Sempat lagi nak berposing dalam kesibukan event ni bersama mak yong yang suweet - muweet at the longest registration table.... We had 2 sweet girls who did the registration, other 2 cute girls who distributed the movie ticket and another 2 pretty girls who distributed the door gift. Hehehehe....

Alhamdulillah... I received this thank you email from my CEO.  He was very happy with the new look and feel of our CNY event. But honestly, I would not be able to do it right without the efforts from the whole team to put on such a colourful event.  I'm glad I have moved on far from my comfort zone to a totally more challenging role.  This role won't be able to please everyone although everyone expects you to please them.  Sometimes I guess we just have to believe in ourselves and we have to keep moving on no matter what...  Although the event was not totally perfect but Alhamdulillah it went on smoothly...

Blue Safari Baby Shower

Alhamdulillah my mom dah balik dari menunaikan ibadah Haji.  Dia nampak lebih lively and healthy.   I have been extremely busy with work lately.  Dah lama tak update blog, rasa rindu pulak.

Selalunya orang organised baby shower untuk 1st baby. Tapi kali ni we threw baby shower for our dear friend for her and her second baby. Sebab mase dia got pregnant pertama kali, tak sempat organise baby shower untuk dia, tapi this time, kitorang 'make' time since she's been very good and sweet to us... 

Since she's expecting a baby boy, I suggested the theme to be "Blue Safari Baby Shower".  At first we invited 10 people to join since the guest of honour wants it to be small.  Tapi yang showed up only half.  Takpelah... although it was only a small party, tapi I'm glad orang yang diraikan nampak happy sangat!

Masa balik, tak sempat nak give her a hug... But I know she always knows that I love her, just like my own baby sister... (although I've been telling people that she 's MORE mature than me) Hehehee... Kadang2 I can be like kanak2 ribena, kadang2 je laa... Nasib baik lah hubby rajin melayan... Alhamdulillah... Allah bagi jodoh yang paling baik untuk saya...

Al-Ikhsan Warehouse Sale!

I am not an early bird who catches the first worm.  But this weekend, I'm quite surprised of myself, I started my days as early as 6.30am... Selalunya lepas Solat Subuh, lepak2 or tido dulu sampailah 8 or 9 am.

Yesterday, after we sent PV for her 1st service (for those who does not know who PV is, check out ParadiseViolet), my hubby took me to the Al-Ikhsan Jumbo Warehouse Clearance Sale.  Dah lah, "Jumbo" ++ pastu "Warehouse" ++ pastu "Clearance" ++ Sale, kalau tak clear jugak tak tau laa... From my understanding, it's clearance sale of the old stocks which is done in a big space at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam. There was a huge crowd of eager buyers queuing to get in.  Yang keluar with happy face tak ramai plak... Tak ketinggalan juga those yang bawa children and babies.  To me, bawak primary school kids to this kind of place takpelaa, sebab nak cari the right shoe size for them but this kinda warehouse sale is not for babies la... It's not stroller friendly.  Babies will tend to feel restless and uncomfortable with so much crowd.  Bukan ada baby shoes pun... Syian diorang...

Walaupun dah macam Tuna sardine , tapi it's so worthwhile...

For all these items, we've got only for RM400+, which value of about RM900+. How's that?

Hari ni is the last day of the sale... Siapa cepat dia dapat... Weeehoooo~

Eid Celebration for the Company

My official career portfolio has always been organising the internal events that have been happening in our training rooms, which consists maximum of 70 participants.  (Tak termasuk activities for social and sports club).  For the past 3 over years working here, I was given the opportunity only to assist my colleague in organising bigger events that involved more than 100 guests aside from organising the internal events.  

But recently, the first time I was given an opportunity to expand my portfolio by organising the annual Raya Celebration for my company which had more than 200 guests came and not only that, there was even special guests from Ministry came.   Alhamdulillah... It's kinda challenging but I can't deny that I had so much fun! This is what you call "DO WHAT YOU LOVE"...

VENUE

I started organising it about a month ahead.  Mula2 got the top management group to vote the venue from the 3 venues that we had proposed.  They decided to hold the event at Restoran Seri Melayu, Jalan Conlay.  I personally love this place as it presents the traditional Malay art and culture ambience, which preserves a memory of Malay kampung life.  So kena dengan Raya theme "balik kampung" kan... Siap ada beca yang tak tahan tu...  Tapi dengar kata next year Restoran Seri Melayu ni will no longer be there.  Harrods will build the first Harrods Hotel in Asia at the Restoran Seri Melayu site pulak next year... Damn... sayangnya... Those rich people are so mean to take away such a valuable restaurant! Even our guests pun happy dengan the choice of the venue.  They said, they felt so warm and welcomed. I am so emo right now... Aha!

FAVOURS

For the favours, mula2 fikir punya fikir, macam mana nak cari inspirations  ni.  Teringat mase I took up art courses, I always went to MATIC and Kompleks Karangkraf sambil brainstorming dgn sketches.  Well, that memory drove me to Kompleks Karangkraf and coincidentally memang ada Handicrafts Fair plak kat situ in conjunction with  raya season.  The one that only captured my attention was the wooden art bookmark.  So when I proposed a wooden art fridge magnet to the top management group, majority liked it and chose it to be the favours.  The first time I laid my eyes on doily papers memang I got crazy about it.  Apa lagi, I used the doily papers for the deco of the ang pau untuk letak the wooden fridge magnet inside the ang pau tu sebagai souvenir untuk guests.  Ape Motif? Motifnya macam tetamu datang ke kampung kita, so kita bagilah ole2 untuk dia jadikan kenangan. Kan?... Bila tunjuk the end product to my colleagues pun ramai dah chop sampai nak sorang dua lah, sorang tiga lah... Hahaha...  In the end, yang mana rajin carried out extra duties on the day of the event, I gave two to each.

LIVE BAND

Untuk nak buat event lagi bertambah berseri-seri and more lively, haruslah ada performance... So I had proposed kugiran tradisional, tarian or live band.  This live band was strongly recommended by my boss and CEO, they had listened to them playing at a wedding.  It's called the Amethyst.  Cari punya cari, ler... coincidentally they have been playing at 39 Restaurant, PNB Darby Park... Alaa, next door je... Moreover, the Top Management Group had selected the Amethyst to perform at our Raya event.  That made it a lot easier!  But I must share this! They are absolutely AMAZING!!! Superb performance!!! Vocalist punya suara sangat gemersik dan syahdu... Feeling yaw! 

 

Pastu I threw out this crazy idea to my team, to call our CEO (yang memang dah terbukti suka menyanyi, suka sangat until he might take singing as a profession if he was not a CEO ;P) to sing with the band to entertain the guests.  Surprisingly my team and him accepted the idea... Best la, sporting la macam ni...   Dia pun nyanyilah lagu "Tunggu Sekejap", dapat whistling, sorakan dan tepukan gemuruh lagi...

TEAMWORK

When it was closer to the event, all staff were assigned to assist with their respective roles.  Alhamdulillah everyone of us worked well with each other.  Walaupun ada yang bidang terjun, tapi akhirnya tak sangka ada bakat terpendam rupanya...  Emcee, Ushers, Registration Ladies, Internal Photographer terdiri daripada my own colleagues.  Aside from the internal photographer, I have engaged the official photographer, most of the pictures here are from her camera.  She's pretty and talented! Most of her pictures have good composition.  Her name is Juaini, I called her Ju.

That's not a fake smile.  That's obviously my little self-satisfied smile sincerely from the bottom of my heart... Alhamdulillah, the event went smoothly and most of my colleagues and my CEO said the event was well organised.  It was a great opportunity given to me to explore my capability skills and sense of dedication. On top of that, I am also thankful for the good team effort. :')

TwiSteD FaiRy TaLeS

A week before the annual dinner, punyalah perah otak, tak dapat2 jugak macam mana nak dress for the twisted fairy tales night.  It started with taking Mr. Hubby to the costume shop untuk cari inspirations. Finally Mr. Hubby settled down for the Peter Pan Costume, sewa di Costume 'N' Parties, The Weld.  Ada banyak pilihan.

So bila the other half dah excited jadi Peter PUN ~ the crazy twin of Peter Pan then saya pun terpaksalah jadi TOinKerBeLL ~ the crazy twin of Tinkerbell.  Found not one but TWO matching green dresses at Nichii and Sg. Weng {dgn muka tak bersalahnya, beli both dresses}.  Orang kata, orang tamak tu selalunya rugi, tapi saya tak tamak. Dengan hasil kreativiti tersendiri, saya pun pakailah kedua-dua baju itew...

I always like to buy dresses which I can wear again and again... All my life belum pernah lagi sewa baju.  Untuk nikah dan kawin pun semua baju sendiri...  Mungkin belum sampai masanya lagi nak menyewa baju...

The moment I went into our annual dinner room, I was so surprised by how majority of them had dressed up. Seriously macam costume party.  Sporting giler diorang ni daripada bapak2, ibuk2 hinggalah ke anak2 kecil dan tak lupa jugak those adorable babies...

So here's how the twisted fairy tales night looked like:

Yeay! Ramai yang recognised these 2 characters. Tapi ade jugak couple of them tertanya-tanya "apakah makhluk2 ini?" Tehehe... Tapi the twisted part was we were NOT the REAL Peter Pan and Tinkerbell but we just dressed up as them as though we were only going for a costume birthday party.  That was why we wore masks and carried a party pack. 

The last time Mr. Hubby pakai contact lense was 4 years ago.  At first dia gigih pakai contact lense tu sendiri walaupun mata dah terkedip2 dan terkebil2... At last, saya ambil, terus pakaikan contact lense untuk dia... Rasa macam tak syok plak Peter Pun Rabun, Eh, it rhymes laaa... Hehehe...

Tak nampak lagi persamaan non-identical twins ni? Berangan laa Ms. Violet Oi... Yang penting Toinkerbell tau tutup urat eh aurat... Hehehe... Initially saya cuma nak pakai flaties macam Tinkerbell tu tapi Mr. Hubby yang insist suruh pakai boots tu. 

Ni masa tengah nak feeling2 fairy tales ~ i can show u the world, shining shimmering splendid... Huhuhu...

Yang ini macam independent short film. Mula-mula Snow Black tried to shoot the poor Toinkerbell.  Then Toinkerbell got so upset, dia pun mengamok dan cuba cekik Snow Black yang cuba lari tetapi gambarnya berjaya ditangkap oleh Puteri Gunung Ladang yang sebenarnya seorang Papparazi.  Bila keadaan sudah mula tenang, Toinkerbell terjumpa Pirated DVD Pirate, dan cuba warn him untuk bagi harga yang lebih murah sebab dia nak beli DVD movie Remy Ishak... {oops, terkeluar abg Remy tetiba je} Sekian, TAMAT... Hehehe...

Nantikan Twisted Fairy Tales Part 2 akan datang di kaca skrin anda... Muahahahahaaaa... {evil laugh yg tak berapa nak evil}

Family Day at Lexis, Port Dickson

Our company organises a family day event every year untuk semua staff berkenalan dan beramah mesra dengan ahli keluarga masing2.  I would like to think that it is a good idea to build a stronger family spirit among us.  Kalau last year, we had the family day at Kuantan beach, this year, we had it at Lexis, Port Dickson.  

It's my first time staying at the water chalet.  And it so happened that our water chalet was totally depan laut yang terbentang luas.  I was so excited at first tapi unfortunately malam tak boleh tidur langsung sebab dari senja sampailah ke pagi ada bunyi yang sangat menakutkan.  After talking to my colleagues about it, most of them said it was only the huge waves yang bergulung gulung menghempas pantai.  {Cheh mcm novel tak?}. But the sound of it was seriously menggerunkan...  OK from now on, water chalet is NOT in my favourite list anymore after experienced such a creepy night.

I once found looking at the ocean gave me a peace of mind until tsunami serang pantai beberapa kali.  And now, I have mixed feelings looking at the ocean, takut dan sedih pun ada bila mengenangkan bayak nyawa anak2 kecil terkorban kerana tsunami.  Bila tengok laut yang COKLAT, lagilah rasa seram. However, I managed to catch the breathtaking sunset view.  All my life, tak pernah rasa jemu tengok sunset.  Alhamdulillah, inilah salah satu keindahan alam ciptaan Allah...

Telematch games  memang a MUST during Family Day event.  Tapi kali ni, saya tak dapat join those interesting games sebab pening kepala yang amat sangat.  Mungkin sebab cuaca panas giler and also tak boleh tido langsung the night before.  Hurmm daripada nanti pengsan pastu menyusahkan committee baiklah tarik diri awal2 kan...

Tapi bila ada dress-up game guna old newspaper, ape lagi saya pun super excited, lupa sekejap pening kepala tadi. Terus melompat pegi join buat hat, belt etc dengan newspaper.   Yang tu memang can't be missed!

Selain telematch, the sports club organised the annual dinner with the most difficult theme this year.  And the theme was TWISTED FAIRY TALE.  Kalau "Fairy Tale" boleh straight away sewa baju dekat costume shop tapi "TWISTED" part tu... Macam mana ya? Dayyym semua orang giler2 perah otak nak twist the fairy tale characters... Hurm... Can't deny that it's interesting though... Will blog about it next... :) 

Awesome Sisters' Double Wedding

It was my very first experience witnessing 2 pairs of pengantin bersanding atas pelamin.  Dua pasangan pengantin ni ialah dua beradik ~ kakak dan adik yang gorgeous. The wedding was held at Kelab Belia dan Sukan Paroi, Negeri Sembilan. It has the humble entrance.  But the interior deco of the hall is elegant with  big scalloped curtains and full carpeted floor.

Credit to its chef and caterer yang sangat efficient.  Although it was a come-and-go event with long tables arrangement, the caterer did absolutely a wonderful job.  The table setting was marvelous.  Dah lama tak tengok meja panjang.  Zaman tahun 80-an dulu yang kenduri kahwin guna meja panjang ni.  Yang menariknya, ada feel macam wedding dulu2 yang meriah.

Food was excellent! Dah lama tak makan nasi orang kahwin yang sangat2 sedap.  My hubby tambah nasi tu berpinggan2 sampai lost count . Hahah! Nasib baik cukup for all guests, siap boleh ta pau lagi... Alhamdulillah...

 Theme colour for this double wedding  was purple... Yeay!!! Sesi "mari kita posing!"

 

Selain makanan yang sedap, ada jugak dessert corner.  Kat sini, bolehlah chill dengan cendol, marshmallow, fruits, chocolate fountain dan macam2 lagi.  Sempat jugaklah rasa cendol tapi tak sempat nak grab marshmallow and fruits. Sungguh laris.  Masa nak pegi ambil, tengok2 tinggal chocolate fondue je. Nasib baik tak buat perangai meratah chocolate tu.

Salah satu highlights of the event was deklamasi sajak.  Bagus penyampaian sajak ni, sangat bermakna, penuh dengan nasihat dan pesanan buat kedua pasangan pengantin. Kita yang pengantin antik ni pun boleh menghayati sama. ;)

Yang ditunggu2 mestilah ketibaan kedua pasangan pengantin ni.  The grand entrance of the brides and grooms... Mula-mula 4 flower girls walked 2-by-2, followed by the bridesmaids and pengapit lelaki dan perempuan.  Then barulah nampak kedua-dua pasangan kat belakang sekali. The first thing I saw, eh Teh (kakak) punya wedding dress sama colour with mine... Hehehe... DUSTY PINK. Tapi baju diorang memang gorgeous!

Rajin betul chef ni guided both couples macam mana nak posing masa acara potong wedding cake.

Tadaaa... inilah kedua pasangan mempelai yang diraikan. 

The double wedding was so well organised and everything went smoothly.  Tapi biasalah semua events ada hiccups.  Untuk double wedding ni, cuma ada sikit aje glitch.  Yang mana berlakunya perampasan mic oleh DJ yang tak berapa semenggah with lame jokes. Tapi maybe it's subjective.  Mungkin ada sesetengah guests suka kot his jokes which I didn't find them funny... 

To Teh and Chik,

From this day onwards you will not be alone at any stage, your life partner will be with you in good and bad. May Allah enhances your love and you live a beautiful life.

Ijab dan Qabul

Syukur ke hadrat Ilahi, termeterailah ijab dan qabul antara dua pasangan mempelai kedua-dua adik beradik yang cantik rupawan ini... Hari pernikahan Teh (kakak) was on Saturday, 23 June and the next 6 days was Chik's (Adik) solemnisation which was on Friday, 29 June. Kedua-dua gadis ini ialah anak saudara suami saya.  For the past few weekends, kami banyak meluangkan masa untuk berkongsi hari bahagia mereka ini. 

This is only the beginning... A lot of time married couple see things differently but you have to learn and grow together.  

Always remember that differences can add richness, depth, and texture to your marriage, if you embrace them ~ words of wisdom that I borrowed.

Mesti both couples tengah honeymoonie!!! Jangan lupa souvenirs OK... 

Itulah beruntungnya saya bertemu jodoh dengan suami yang mempunyai bilangan keluarga yang besar.  Kalau nak ikutkan, anak saudara saya yang sulung baru belasan tahun, tapi anak saudara suami saya dah ramai yang sudah pun berumahtangga.  Percaya atau tidak, kami dah pun bergelar 'datuk dan nenek sedara'.  Bila berjumpa di kenduri-kendara, yang dah besar panjang, tinggi lampai, jauh lebih tinggi dari saya yang rendang ni panggil saya Aunty... Saya OK jer... Mujur cucu sedara semua masih bayi.. Bila diorang dah besar, nak panggil saya apa? Saya dah beritahu diorang sama ada pangkat saya tetap Aunty, atau panggil saya "Nana R"...  {issh susah betul nak mengaku diri ni NENEK}.  Tehehee...

There was a joke during our discussion at FB page.  Teh punya solemnisation, buat theme Barisan Nasional while Chik's theme was PAS... So biru dan hijaulah ye... Takpelah, kata 1 Malaysia... Peace NOT war! 

Untuk kedua2 pasangan mempelai yang kami kasihi, terimalah lagu ni.  

 Eh, rupa Maher Zain ade macam Elfi, Teh's hubby ke? Hehehe... Irwan mcm siapa pulak?

wedding and engagement weekend

We had such a full weekend... It's all began with my sister-in-law's solemnisation at the Mosque, Paroi, Negeri Sembilan last Friday.  My husband has 20 warm and friendly siblings.  I myself was quite surprised when I first got to know about that.  20, seriously? Owh yeah! 

Jodoh pertemuan Allah yang tentukan... So, tibalah jodoh Kak Liza bersama pilihan hatinya, Abg Kamaruzaman...  Panjangnya, lupa pulak nak tanya how should I call him... Hurm I heard my other half called him abg Kamarul... mane plak datang "L" tu... Should it be Kamaruz? Hehehe...

My other half was so exhausted on Friday night, so I did the emcee script with much love until late night since he was chosen to be the Divo Emcee while he slept like a baby next to me. Owh ok panjangnya ayat, sila tarik nafas skarang... ;P

Last Saturday plak, it must have been the most beautiful moments in Kak Liza's life which obviously her wedding reception.  Tak pasal2 jadi bidang terjun kot berduet dengan my other half jadi his Co-Emcee... But, I was quite proud of him, tak sangka ada bakat terpendam jadi Emcee.  Cos he could be quite spontaneous and funny at times...  Everyone said we did a good job... Tak tau lah whether they were just being nice or they really meant it... The most important thing was we enjoyed doing the emcee thing together... It's like we had discovered that we had a strong connection right there...It felt so right... OK... OK... orang lain punya wedding, so back track, here are some of the wedding pictures...

By the way, as I am blogging this, I am watching SMASH on DIVA Universal.  So I'm a bit distracted... : )

On Sunday morning, we went to the engagement party of my sweetheart's cousin, Eliz.  A very sweet party for a sweet pretty young lady.  Simple but so sweet... I was glad that I was invited cos I myself didn't get the chance to have my own engagement party. Sebab dulu we skipped the engagement part as I don't want it to be a burden to my other half and our families. To share this beautiful moments with the bride-to-be pun dah awesome! Here are some of the gorgeous moments I managed to capture...

After the wedding and engagement party, I had a good LONG nap while my Paradise sambung lagi ke padang bola for a tournament.  Dia jadi pemain import for Petronas pulak dah... I dunno where he got his energy from.  Me? I dah flat n super tired!
